Small Apartment Storage Mistakes Renters Should Avoid
Organizing a small apartment is a game of millimeters. One wrong purchase can clutter a walkway or jam a closet door. Here are the mistakes we see most often.
1. Buying "Round" Storage
Round baskets and canisters are aesthetically pleasing, but they waste corner space. In a small drawer or on a shelf, square or rectangular containers maximize volume. Always think in grids, not circles.
2. Ignoring the Back of Doors
If your bathroom, bedroom, and coat closet doors are naked, you are wasting 30+ square feet of storage. Over-the-door racks are the easiest no-drill win for shoes, robes, and pantries.
3. Opaque Bins
In deep closets or under beds, if you can't see it, you won't use it. Clear bins (or clearly labeled ones) prevent you from buying duplicates of things you already own but can't find.
